Excalibre and Proventia win order for a further 100 retrofit SCR NOx reduction systems from Transport for London and London bus operator.
In May 2013 Excalibre Technologies Ltd and Proventia Emission Control Oy were approved by TfL to supply and install SCR NOx reduction systems under the London Retrofit program. This followed a 6 month field trial and controlled laboratory testing. The program, funded by Transport for London (TfL) and central government, is designed to reduce NOx and NO2 emissions from Euro 3 Dennis Trident busses.
Excalibre are Proventia’s long term partner for emission control systems in the UK and are managing the program and installing systems on their behalf. Excalibre will also provide the ongoing maintenance and servicing of these systems.
After initial engine lab tests witnessed by TfL, a successful field durability trial was conducted. Excalibre installed the Proventia NOxBUSTER® SCR system on 2 busses and these were operated in the London area for a six month trial period. The NOx and NO2 reduction from both the laboratory and field tests exceeded the stringent TfL requirements. The supply and installation of production systems began in September 2013. To date Excalibre have installed more than 240 systems and the program will be completed in May 2015.
“Excalibre worked closely with the bus operator to optimise the design so that changes to the vehicle were minimised. The result is a robust and unobtrusive system that replaces the existing exhaust outlet pipework and is installed completely under the chassis of the vehicle.”, says Mark Joyce, Director at Excalibre.
